This is a fantastic and ultra rare 'Yellow Cake Deluxe Cased Edition' by Andy Warhol & Pietro Psaier. It is No.2 of a varied edition of only 25 ( Each one is unique, with different colous and scent bottles ). It was produced in 1984 and is dated verso 3/3/84. The bottle in the case is solid crystal and is very large and heavy. The bottle and the stopper both have plates with the title 'P. Psaiers Stink Parfum No.1 by Andy Warhol' and with the signature of Warhol below. The case is also very heavy, wood construction, with a mirrored interior. The exterior is covered in a special type of acrylic, which is a neon laser fiberoptic produced by CM Research. On the front are the names 'Andy Warhol, Pietro Psaier' and on the top and sides, the title 'Stink'. Integrated into the front is also the signature of Pietro Psaier, the edition number 2/25 and the Factory Additions Inc. Copyright. There is a glass plate covering the front. The overall dimensions are 17 x 14 x 5 inches. On the verso is a gallery label from the renowned 'Upstairs Gallery', New York. It has the title "Psaiers Stink No.1 by Andy Warhol, New York". The price was $10,000 plus sales tax.

In music history there have been many different album covers featuring Andy Warhol artwork. Shown up above are just a few examples. The one of Count Basie is actually quite RARE. It used commercial art that Andy did in the 1950's. The one with the Rolling Stones Love You Live art was specially commissioned by Mick Jagger. The banana cover is for a band called the Velvet Underground which was owned by Warhol. This image is practically an icon & has been reproduced on hundreds of T-Shirts, The last one with Paul Anka's portrait was just that, a portrait. Mr. Anka hired Warhol to do a few paintings of him & later he chose this one to be an album cover. I thought this would be a neat post, hope ya like it.

He was kinda famous for being one of those artists who hardly ever paints his own paintings, a lot like Andy Warhol, ha ha. One of his gimmicks is to appropriate images from famous art masterpieces & blend them into his own artwork. Here's a few examples. In the 1960's Andy Warhol designed a "High-Fashion" Paper Dress covered with multiple images of his famous Campbell's Tomato Soup Can art. These are quite RARE today. In fact, both collectors of Fine Art & Vintage Clothing collectors really love this item. They pop-up on eBay every now & then. I think it would be cool to have one framed flat for the wall. The next photo is a pair of "Soup Can" designer shoes made just a few years ago. They're handmade & very nice quality ( that means "expensive", ha ha! ). I don't think they were sanctioned by The Warhol Estate but made by some Mod-Style Shoe Designer as an homage to Andy. They're pretty cool though. Something that's kinda funny is I remember reading in THE ANDY WARHOL DIARIES book about how when he did autograph events people would just shove cases of Campbell's Soup Cans in his face for him to sign & later he remarked, "Oh God, I am so sick of these cans"! Like as if he saw another can he would just barf, ha ha!

The other night I was checkin' out the Andy Warhol Store at the Official Warhol Museum site to look for a Christmas gift idea for a friend of mine. While there I saw this god-awful "Andy Warhol" Wrist Watch! This is the ugliest thing I have ever seen! Well, wait a minute, it's so incredibly bad that it might be cool. I think Andy would have like that, ha ha! Oh, here's some information about the watch: Swish Swiss Movement, Swarovski Crystals, Real Genuine Reptile Strap, Fancy Deployant Buckle, & a Special Custom Enamel Crown. What's "deployant" mean? ha Ha.

When you enter the front door of this establishment the HUGE Yellow Self-Portrait is the very 1st thing you see!

It's kinda strange how today there's a ton of Warhol-related products being made & a few of them are kinda weird or wacky! Like these: Here's a Set of 5 different real-life SNOWBOARDS that features Warhol's work on the bottom. There's the "Do-It-Yourself Flowers" painting, an Electric Chair from the Art Print Series, a Last Supper variation, a 1960's Flowers Painting, & my favorite, an Andy Warhol Self-Portrait. These are actually pretty cool & I think they would be great to display as art on the wall. The next item is a very small plastic-figure of Andy that is sort of ball-shaped, kinda cute really. This is a part of the current "Urban Toy" culture & made by a company named Harmony. They made other "artists" in the series but who cares about them. The last item is kinda funny & elegant all at the same time, ha ha. It's a Fine-Silk Dress Tie with Andy's famous Pop Art graphic of a Pepsi-Cola Bottle Cap. I haven't really researched these ties that hard but I'll bet ya that they did one with Campbell's Soup Cans, ha ha!

One of my favorite aspects to Andy Warhol's art are the many portraits he did of famous and/or rich people. These Pop Art paintings have become icons in the art world & the "style" is copied by many graphic artists today. Here are 2 examples of one such portrait. Now, the thing that's driving me crazy is I got this picture ( and was gonna publish the information ) from an Australian Government website but I totally forgot the name of it & lost the bookmark! A long time ago, while researching Andy Warhol on the internet, I came across this guy's web page that was an interesting "Do-It-Yourself" home improvement-type web page that had a lot of DIY decorating tips & ideas. One thing he did was he made a totally "Warhol Obsessed" Kitchen. I think it was an extremely clever idea & looks really cool! He took Warhol Posters & applied them to his kitchen cabinets. AUCTION: Warhol's Silver Wig Sells for $10,800

An original Andy Warhol silver wig has sold for $10,800 at a recent auction by Christie's. The silver wig that was worn by Warhol also came with 3 pieces of tape still stuck inside. The wig's pre-sale estimate was between $4000 & $6000. It was one of several lots put up at Christie's auction house by Jeffrey Warhola, the artist's nephew. A 1977 Polaroid photo of Muhammad Ali, signed by Warhol, sold for $19,200. And a Warhol Polaroid of Mick Jagger from 1975 went for $15,600.

Andy Warhol is at the core of this year's summer exhibition at the Frieder Burda Museum in Baden-Baden, Germany. In addition to the works of Andy Warhol, the show includes works by Robert Rauschenberg, Roy Lichtenstein, Cy Twombly and Anselm Kiefer. I love seeing works of ART near real people because it usually gives the works a lot of scale. The show was from May 25 to October 7, 2007 so it's over but here's some lovely footage ( Sorry, I just got this video subscription service & found out too late ).

New Andy Warhol Interview Book : I'll Be Your Mirror

This is my 1st Warhol-Related BOOK REVIEW & if you're a big Andy Warhol Fan then I highly recommend this book! The title is "I'll Be Your Mirror, The Selected Andy Warhol Interviews". Edited by Kenneth Goldsmith ©2004. This book basically reprints many real-life interviews done with Andy, 37 of them! The interviews were usually conducted by reporters & art critics from 1962-1987. It contains 29 photographs. In many of the interviews Andy was "typical Warhol" just answering questions with yes or no, no matter what the question was, ha ha. Other times though he had alot of very thought provoking things to say. Like, in one interview, he makes the statement "Everybody will be world famous for fifteen minutes". In another he talks about his Death & Disaster series in a very touching way. Some critics felt he exploited the imagery of people commiting suicide or being dead but his actual message is that these people were usually not talked about by the media or just used as a sound-bite. After reading what he has to say you come to the understanding that he really cared about these people & felt that all people are important, even if you're not a famous person. They cover all aspects of his art from the wacky Campbell's Soup Cans all the way to his very religious Last Supper paintings. This book was so good I usually had a problem putting it down. I kinda skipped thru the ones covering his film carreer but most of them are about his art & ideas about art / business.....a great book! If you really wanna "know" Andy then I suggest getting this book at your favorite liabary or you can use the link I have provided & get it at a great price at Amazon Books.

Shepard Farley is a modern day STENCIL GRAFITTI Artist I really respect. I know you've seen his work, he's very famous for doing the image of Andre The Giant with the word OBEY. 2 Classic Warhol Ads: Braniff Airlines & Sony TV

Warhol was well known for renting himself out for ads & commercials. Here are 2 vintage magazine ads: One for Braniff Airlines where he appeared with the famous boxer Sonny Liston. It contained his famous line, "If ya got it, flaunt it!".The other one is for Sony Beta Tape. In the near future I plan on posting the actual TV Commercial ( online video ) where he & Liston are talking about Braniff Airlines so be sure to check back for that one, it's a classic! This is just the print ad.

BMW is famous for its "ART CARS", a series dating back to the 1970's where famous artists use a real BMW car as their canvas. One year BMW asked Warhol to paint one of their cars, a BMW M1 Race Car. All the other artists first of all painted their pattern on a scaled-down model and then had this transferred to the car by assistants, the Pop Art legend Andy Warhol painted the 470 hp BMW M1 himself from start to finish. On the subject of his sweeping brush and finger strokes, he said: "I tried to portray speed pictorially. If a car is moving really quickly, all the lines and colors are blurred." Warhol's rolling work of art had its first and only race outing at the 24-hour race at Le Mans in 1979, when it was sixth in the overall ranking. A few select group of artists have painted these for BMW including David Hockney, Roy Lichtnstein, Keith Haring, & others. But we all know Warhol's car is the best! Here's a wonderful image I found on the net that I knew had to be desktop wallpaper! It's an image you don't see that often & is on permanent display at The Andy Warhol Museum. It's a series of real boxing bags that were painted by both Andy & Jean Micheal Basquiat. The imagery used by Andy Warhol is of Jesus from his "Last Supper" series....awesome! The Andy Warhol Family Museum in Slovakia

Andy was born in America but his parents were imigrants from Slovakia. It appears that now that country is really trying to milk that fact & they have opened the Andy Warhol Family Museum. They have a display area inside which is mainly art prints but outside they have a bronze sculpture that has Andy holding an umbrella. The sculpture is kinda cool & from the Official Slovakia Tourism website it looks like a beautiful country, maybe worth a trip!

Andy was very well known for taking on clients to do portraits in the 1970's & 80's. These are some of my most favorite kind of Warhol images he worked on. Also, these pictures are kind of hard to find since most went to a person's private home. But, sometimes they reach auction or are publicized & we can see a few, enjoy!
